Stand by Brandenburg Gate, one of Berlin's most iconic landmarks, and imagine the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, when locals from East and West gathered at the gate for its official opening, leading it to become a symbol of reunified Germany. The gate is adorned with a statue known as the “Quadriga,”, which depicts the goddess of victory driving a chariot pulled by four horses. Apart from its significant history, Brandenburg Gate is also an example of neoclassic architecture, and is well-located, facing Pariser Platz, one of the city's most picturesque squares.
Enjoy art outdoors at the East Side Gallery

Located at the former site of the Berlin Wall, the East Side Gallery is the world's longest open-air gallery. Stretching for 1.3km, it showcases contributions from 118 artists from 21 different countries. Here you can contemplate notable works including Thierry Noir's vibrant murals and Birgit Kinders's Trabant, which depicts a car breaking through the wall. Begin your trip at Warschauer Straße station and take a leisurely stroll along the gallery with its picturesque setting beside the banks of the river Spree. With the Mercedes Benz Arena nearby, the route makes an enjoyable precursor for those watching a concert or sporting event during the evening.
