Oman, Middle East – A hotpot of Arabian gems

Visit Oman and discover everything from white-sand beaches and impressive mountains to bustling markets and time-worn castles. Nature is this country's forte. Wadi Bani Khalid, for instance - a picture-perfect valley in the Ash Sharqiyah Region - flaunts unique red rock formations and water pools. The Al Hajar mountain range is also not to be missed. It's home to Jebel Akhdar, the Green Mountain, and Jebel Shams, the highest point in the range. Climb to the top and you'll be rewarded with far-reaching views. If relaxing is more your style, unwind on Al Qurum beach or Khasab beach. They both have soft sands and bright-blue waters. At Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve there's a stretch of coast where you might even spot endangered green turtles. For a cultural experience, we'd recommend visiting Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, the most famous in the country or exploring Nakhal Fort and Jibreen Castle. For some bazaar-like shopping, lose yourself in the colourful, vibrant Muttrah Souq.
