Amman, Jordan – Come to a City Full of History

You won't walk far in Jordan's capital city without coming across some landmarks of the past. Modern architecture and historical sites are spread across the city's seven hills, recording the presence of numerous civilisations over thousands of years. Of particular note are the restored Roman Theatre, Odeon and Nymphaeum, and the Citadel archaeological site. Not surprisingly, this is reflected in several museums celebrating Jordan's history and folklore. Foodies will enjoy exploring Jordan's cuisine, from mansaf the national dish, prepared with lamb, flatbread, rice and the tangy jameed sauce, to the indulgent kanafeh, a gooey and crispy cheese pastry covered in rosewater syrup and chopped nuts. Why not relax at a park? Zahran Park is a wonderful hideaway for sitting and chilling, while the Haya Cultural Centre is a great place to take the children. Kids will also enjoy the interactive exhibits at the Children's Museum.
