Discover Lake Geneva, Switzerland's largest lake

Swimming, boating, water-sport activities, relaxing, whatever your thing, Switzerland's Lake Geneva has you covered. The country's largest lake, curving along the border of France, boasts 116 beaches as well as some impressively dramatic scenery. On the Swiss side, for example, are the forest-covered Jura Mountains, while across the border in France, you'll find the snow-capped peak of Mont Blanc.Other top things to do here include cycling or hiking around the lake. Take photos of the marvellous Jet d'Eau fountain

As you fly into Geneva Airport, look out of the window and you may be able to spot the Jet d'Eau, an enormous water fountain in Lake Geneva, which spouts its froth 140 metres into the air. Head to the city's Mont Blanc Bridge or Promenade du Lac alongside the left side of the lake for the best photo-shoot spots. Or, if you want to get closer, you can hop on a mouette taxi-boat, which will take you from the right to the left bank.
Pamper yourself at the Bains des Paquis

Geneva is home to plenty of spas and swimming spots, but none quite have the flair of the Bains des Paquis, set on Switzerland's Lake Geneva. This hip pool in Paquis dates back to 1872 and is the perfect place for a scenic dip.In the summer months, it buzzes with swimmers enjoying a refreshing soak, while the rest of the year, the focus shifts to the on-site sauna, hammam and Turkish baths. There's also a waterfront bar and restaurant here, and there are events all year round, including early-morning music and poetry readings.
Learn about watchmaking at the Patek Philippe Museum

The Swiss are famous for their timepieces, and Geneva is one of the most important watchmaking cities – after all, the world's first watchmaking guild was established here. So, what better place to learn about the craft? At Geneva's Patek Philippe Museum, in the heart of the Plainpalais district, you can see the most prestigious creations of the country's master watchmakers. Learn all about Swiss watchmaking from the 16th century to the present and admire the collection of watches, musical automata and enamel miniatures from the 16th to the 19th centuries.
