Moscow – A city of museums

Moscow has a mind-boggling 400-plus museums. From art to science, from childhood to death, you name it; there is probably a museum for it. Many of the museums are child-friendly; the Experimentanium is full of interactive exhibits, while at the Museum of Soviet Gaming Machines there are plenty of arcade games for them to play. The Kremlin complex is a must-visit for most tourists. Once you have entered through the Kutafiya tower and passed the intimidating red wall, you will find that the buildings inside look much friendlier. The biggest draws are the white Assumption Cathedral with golden domes, where Tsars were crowned, and the similarly coloured Assumption Belfry and 81-metres-tall Ivan the Great Bell Tower. Shoppers will delight in the 200 upmarket boutiques in Red Square's GUM shopping centre, while bargain-hunters may wish to check out the Izmaylovo market.

Red Square – A vast space with beautiful buildings

Arrive by the Voskresensky Gates to see the iconic sight of St. Basil's Cathedral beautifully framed by the arch of the left-hand gate. The onion-shaped domes of this colourful cathedral are a marvel to behold. Inside, there is a maze-like interior with nine chapels, each uniquely and elaborately decorated.Go through the gates and you realise that Red Square is vast. 400 metres separate the gates from the cathedral and 120 metres separate the stately GUM building from the Kremlin's wall.At night, the GUM dazzles, with thousands of lights defining its main features, while the cathedral has a magical glow.
Bolshoi Theatre – Beautiful surroundings, heavenly music

Home to the world-famous Bolshoi Ballet and Bolshoi Opera companies, the Bolshoi Theatre also has some gorgeous architecture to pull you in.The exterior emphasises clean, regal lines with its 8-column portico topped by a statue of Apollo riding his chariot. The Museum of Cosmonautics – Full of the right stuff

Arriving at the Museum of Cosmonautics after about a half-hour's ride on public transport from central Moscow, you will first notice the Monument to the Conquerors of Space, a titanium sculpture of a rocket atop a stylised sweeping exhaust plume. Approach and you can enter the museum via the monument's base.Here you can step inside a space station, come face to visor with cosmonaut spacesuits, and examine rocket components.A great day out for families, while business travellers, looking for that extra wow factor, can book a conference hall or movie theatre for private conferences and presentations.
Gorky Park – Chill out on the banks of the Moskva River

Set against the sweep of the River Moskva, Gorky Park is a wonderful recreational park, packed with features.
